About Us

Sell Comic Book is a website designed to help you do just that: sell comic book or comic books.

However, you cannot sell every comic book. As a general rule, only comic books that were published between the years 1930 – 1975 have any potential for value. If you want to sell those comic books, take a look at the original cover price. If it is 35 cents or less, it may have value. If it has a higher price, it was published sometime between 1976 – present time. Whereas you may walk into a comic book store that sells comic books like those for anywhere from $5 to $15 each, the reality is that for every comic book they sell in a given year, they have 2000 comics just like it that they can’t sell. That is because every person who bought a comic book since 1975 “collected” it, put it in a bag and board, and believed that it would one day become valuable. When millions of people don’t throw something out, it is not rare, and supply far outstrips demand years later when they want to sell comic book.

ComicConnect.com is an excellent venue, and is the business that set the record for selling a comic book for $1.5 Million, which was Superman’s first appearance in 1938 in Action Comics #1. Unlike many auction houses, they do not charge the buyer a “buyers premium” on top of the hammer price. This practice hurts the consignor, who is typically paid 85% of the hammer, and none of the 19.5% premium. Instead, ComicConnect only charges a low 10% commission, and pays the net 90% to the seller. They are also happy to appraise comic books for anyone who wants to sell a comic book.
